Phasemation T-2000

Product Outline and Concept

Balanced signal reception from phono cartridges is widely regarded among discerning listeners as essential for achieving the highest sound quality. Phasemation’s T-500, released in 2014, was among the first to support true balanced input and earned a strong reputation for its performance. However, ongoing research revealed further potential for refinement.

Driven by the pursuit of superior sound and a more lifelike, expansive soundstage, Phasemation developed its most advanced step-up transformer to date. By completely re-evaluating the coil winding structure, the design achieves remarkable improvements in resolution and musicality. Additionally, to eliminate crosstalk and interference between channels, each channel is housed in its own dedicated monaural chassis, ensuring the purest signal path and uncompromised stereo performance.

Main features

Balanced Transmission-Compatible Input Section

The signal generated by a phono cartridge is inherently balanced. When this signal is transmitted via an unbalanced connection, the benefits of balanced operation are not only diminished or lost, but the signal also becomes more vulnerable to external noise, which can degrade overall sound quality.

Phasemation supports fully balanced transmission by using a push-pull balanced circuit from the cartridge coil to the transformer. The entire signal path is shielded and grounded, significantly reducing the influence of external interference. A fully balanced configuration is maintained by connecting the center of the transformer’s primary coil to the signal ground of the secondary coil, ensuring high signal integrity and minimized noise.

Advanced Core Materials for Superior Performance

Phasemation has developed a new ultra-thin super malloy core, improving upon the previously used 0.2 mm permalloy material. In combination with a larger core structure, this new material delivers exceptional low-frequency linearity and highly efficient voltage boosting with minimal energy loss. The result is an expressive, atmospheric sound with excellent resolution and depth.

Optimized Coil Winding for High Resolution and Range

To maximize performance, Phasemation has redesigned the transformer coil windings to ensure optimal compatibility with a wide range of phono cartridge impedance values. These refined specifications, along with a newly engineered winding structure, produce a transformer capable of delivering exceptional resolution and a wide, natural soundstage.

The use of high-purity copper wire in the secondary coil improves tonal balance and maintains sonic integrity across the entire frequency range. Each transformer is handcrafted with precision to achieve the highest possible sound quality. This attention to detail enhances frequency response and phase accuracy while minimizing distortion, resulting in a cleaner and more stable acoustic image.

Noise and Vibration Suppression for Enhanced Clarity

To eliminate the effects of external hum and mechanical vibration, Phasemation employs a rigid, copper-plated steel chassis and a case design incorporating electromagnetic shielding. A dual-layer magnetic shield surrounds the transformer, while high-damping rubber mounts isolate it from the main chassis to suppress resonance and vibration transmission.

The front panel is crafted from 20 mm thick angled aluminum, providing both rigidity and vibration control. A solid wood base is also integrated into the design. Together, these elements reduce unwanted vibration and enhance the signal-to-noise ratio, allowing for cleaner, more focused sound reproduction.

High-End Components for Ultimate Fidelity

The input and output terminals feature rhodium-plated connectors from FURUTECH, known for their outstanding conductivity and durability. For additional sonic refinement, TAOC high-carbon cast iron insulators are used for the feet, helping to reduce micro-vibrations and further improve resolution and tonal accuracy.
